Jordan and Kuwait Call for Sustainable Resolution to Iran-US Conflict
Amman (ANTARA) - Jordan and Kuwait on Sunday (26/4) highlighted the importance of advancing diplomatic efforts between the United States (US) and Iran towards a sustainable resolution, while emphasising the need to guarantee freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
The announcement was made during negotiations between Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and Kuwait’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah in Amman, as revealed in a joint statement.
The two officials affirmed that any progress achieved following the ceasefire agreement must lead to a sustainable resolution capable of addressing the longstanding tensions.
The two ministers called for strict adherence to international law, respect for state sovereignty, and protection of freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz in accordance with the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea 1982 (UNCLOS).
During the meeting, Safadi reiterated Jordan’s condemnation of attacks targeting the sovereignty of Arab countries and affirmed his kingdom’s full solidarity with Kuwait.

Jordan and Kuwait also agreed to hold a new round of political consultations between their foreign ministries in the near future, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral coordination.
Regarding the Palestinian issue, the two ministers emphasised the urgency of stabilising the situation in the Gaza Strip and ensuring sustainable delivery of humanitarian aid.
They also called for an end to measures that undermine the two-state solution, including settlement expansions and efforts to change the status of holy sites in Jerusalem.
Concerning Lebanon, both sides emphasised the importance of maintaining the ceasefire and supporting the Lebanese Government’s efforts to enforce full sovereignty and ensure state control over weapons.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to continue close coordination to promote regional peace and stability.
