John Field and Associates Charged with Bribing Customs Officials Rp 63.1 Billion
The indictment hearing took place at the Central Jakarta Corruption Court on Thursday (6/5/2026). The three defendants are: defendant I, John Field, as the leader of Blueray Cargo; defendant II, Deddy Kurniawan Sukolo, as the Operational Manager of Blueray Cargo; and defendant III, Andri, as the head of the Blueray Cargo documentation team.
KPK prosecutors stated that the three gave Rp 61.3 billion in Singapore dollars. In addition to money, the prosecutors alleged that the trio also provided facilities and luxury goods worth Rp 1.8 billion.
“With the intention that the officials would act or refrain from acting in their positions, namely to facilitate the faster release of Blueray Cargo Group’s imported goods from customs supervision processes at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, contrary to their duties,” the KPK prosecutor explained while reading the indictment.
KPK prosecutors mentioned that the money was given to DJBC officials, including Rizal (RZL) as Director of Enforcement and Investigation of DJBC from 2024 to January 2026, Sisprian Subiaksono (SIS) as Deputy Head of Intel P2 DJBC, and Orlando Hamonangan (ORL) as Head of Intel DJBC. The payments were made from July 2025 to January 2026.
KPK prosecutors explained that the introduction between the defendants began in May 2025, when John Field met Rizal in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta. The meeting continued in June 2025 at the DJBC head office in Rawamangun, East Jakarta.
There, John Field was introduced to Sisprian Subiaksono. Then, John Field was introduced to Orlando Hamonangan by Rizal and Sisprian. During the introduction, Rizal informed John that DJBC would hold a meeting with several cargo companies.
The meeting took place a month later, at the Borobudur Hotel in Central Jakarta.
A month later, in August 2025, John invited the other two defendants, Deddy and Andri, to meet Orlando. In that meeting, John explained to Orlando about the many shipments from PT Blueray Cargo that were entering the red channel and subject to dwelling time.
From there, Orlando immediately communicated upwards to Sisprian and then Rizal. That coordination bore fruit, allowing the imported goods of PT Blueray Cargo in the red channel to be quickly released under direct supervision from Rizal, Sisprian, and Orlando.
During the communication and coordination process conducted by the defendants with DJBC officials, money, entertainment facilities, and luxury goods were provided. The giving began in July 2025 with Rp 8.2 billion in Singapore dollars to Orlando.
Then in August, John handed over Rp 8.9 billion in Singapore dollars. In September, John gave Rp 8.5 billion, still in Singapore dollars.
These payments continued until January 2026, totaling Rp 61.3 billion in Singapore dollars and Rp 1.8 billion in entertainment facilities and luxury goods. KPK prosecutors consider the defendants’ actions to violate Article 605 paragraph 1 letter a and Article 606 paragraph 1 of Law No. 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code.
“The actions of the Defendants constitute a corruption offence as regulated and punishable under Article 605 paragraph (1) letter a of Law No. 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code (KUHP) jo Article VII number 48 Article 605 letter a of Law No. 1 of 2026 on Penal Adjustment jo Article 20 letter c jo Article 126 paragraph (1) of Law No. 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code (KUHP),” the prosecutor stated.
