Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) has requested that job creation become the primary focus for the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, given that the open unemployment rate (TPT) in the capital in 2025 is higher than the national average.

“The unemployment rate in DKI is still higher than the national average. DKI is at 6.05 percent, while the national figure is 4.85 percent. This is a primary concern: how to create jobs,” said the Director General of Population and Civil Registration at Kemendagri, Teguh Setyabudi, during the Deliberation on Development Planning (Musrenbang) for the Regional Government Work Plan (RKPD) of DKI Jakarta Province for 2027 at Jakarta City Hall on Thursday.

According to him, Jakarta’s TPT figure exceeding the national average indicates that the current economic growth is not yet fully inclusive and optimal in absorbing local labour.

Regarding the reduction of the TPT figure, Kemendagri proposes various strategies, including the revitalisation of education and vocational training, the development and utilisation of Job Training Centres (BLK), and the enhancement of access to information and job markets.

On that occasion, Teguh also highlighted another issue in Jakarta: a Gini ratio of 0.441, which is higher than the national figure of 0.363. This indicates quite significant inequality in Jakarta.

“It is not easy to lower the Gini ratio, but this is a challenge,” said Teguh.

On the other hand, he noted several positive achievements in Jakarta, including a poverty rate that has consistently remained below the national average. In 2025, the achievement is 4.28 percent, while the national figure is 8.25 percent.

Furthermore, regarding the Human Development Index (IPM), which has shown consistent improvement from 2021 to 2025. In 2025, Jakarta’s IPM reaches 85.05, while the national figure is 75.90.

“We appreciate that in terms of the Human Development Index, it is at 85.05 compared to the national 75.90. Then, economic growth rate of 5.2, while national is 5.1,” Teguh revealed.

Further, he appreciated various initiatives run by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, including the strengthening and enhancement of the Kartu Jakarta Pintar (KJP) Plus, Kartu Jakarta Mahasiswa Unggul (KJMU), Kartu Lansia Jakarta (KLJ), Kartu Anak Jakarta (KAJ), free private schools, Pasukan Putih, and the opening of Transjabodetabek routes.
