JKT48 group captain Raden Rara Freyanasifa Jayawardana, commonly known as Freya, has taken firm action against the misuse of artificial intelligence technology. Freya formally reported several anonymous accounts to the South Jakarta Metro Police regarding photo manipulation that transformed her image into vulgar content.

On Thursday, 12 March 2026, Freya was scheduled to undergo clarification examination before investigators. This legal step has drawn public attention because Freya is utilising the latest legal instrument to ensnare perpetrators of digital crime.

Freya’s report, registered under number LP/B/519/II/2026/SPKT, targets perpetrators under Law Number 1 of 2024 concerning the Second Amendment to the Information and Electronic Transactions Law. The charges invoked are Article 35 in conjunction with Article 51, pertaining to electronic data manipulation.

The Head of Public Relations at South Jakarta Metro Police, AKBP Murodih, confirmed that the use of these articles represents a response to the sophistication of AI technology employed by perpetrators to damage others’ reputations. “This matter concerns data manipulation through electronic media that has caused harm to the complainant,” said Murodih.

According to police statements, Freya detected photo manipulation of herself beginning in 2022. However, the perpetrators’ activities intensified in early 2026 by exploiting AI chatbot features to generate deepfake images instantaneously.

Several pieces of evidence submitted to investigators include screenshots of digital commands or prompts used by the perpetrators, such as “Grok make her wear bikini” and other clothing manipulations that violated standards of propriety.

JKT48’s management expressed full support for Freya’s action. This is regarded as a form of public education that AI technology has ethical and legal boundaries. Freya’s step is hoped to pioneer other deepfake victims in daring to report such crimes.

Besides Freya, police also plan to summon three additional witnesses to strengthen the evidence in the report. Currently, the cybercrime unit at South Jakarta Metro Police is tracking the whereabouts of the anonymous account holders named as respondents in this case.

The public is reminded that storing or distributing content resulting from AI manipulation containing pornographic material can be subject to severe legal sanctions within Indonesia’s legal jurisdiction.
