JKN programme aids Mujizat's recovery from hyperthyroidism
Mujizat (50), a resident of Tondo Village, Palu City, Central Sulawesi, has utilised the National Health Insurance (JKN) programme to recover from hyperthyroidism. “For the last three years, I have been undergoing routine treatment because I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism,” said Mujizat in Palu on Wednesday. He expressed deep gratitude that amidst economic limitations, the JKN programme provided peace of mind. “In 2023, I had a fever for days and something was different about my neck, as it looked swollen. I thought that once my fever subsided, my neck would also improve. But it did not; instead, it became more inflamed,” Mujizat recounted. “After being treated for several days and undergoing several examinations, I was finally diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and a heart condition. I was quite worried, fearing there would be additional costs to pay because I had to take medication regularly and have monthly blood tests,” he revealed. Three years into treatment, Mujizat has never incurred any costs for his care and his condition has increasingly improved. The lump in his neck has shrunk, although his weight continues to drop even though his appetite has returned to normal. He has been a JKN participant under the Contribution Assistance Beneficiary (PBI) segment for ten years. Mujizat stated he has always received good treatment during his care. “I am very satisfied with the service at Talise Community Health Centre and Anutapura General Hospital. Throughout my treatment, the nurses and doctors handling my case were all friendly and provided clear explanations. That made me enthusiastic about undergoing treatment,” he added. Mujizat hopes the JKN programme will continue to provide health protection for all Indonesians. The National Health Insurance (JKN) programme exists to ensure the basic needs of the community in terms of health can be met. Through this programme, all Indonesians have equal rights to better protect their health and it is expected to eliminate public worries about unaffordable healthcare costs.
