JK Receives Iranian Ambassador, States Prabowo Ready to Mediate Conflict
Jakarta – Jusuf Kalla, the tenth and twelfth Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, received a visit from Iran’s Ambassador to Indonesia Mohammad Boroujerdi at his residence in South Jakarta on Tuesday, 3 March 2026.
The meeting addressed the current developments in Iran and the possibility of Indonesia’s role in promoting conflict resolution. During the meeting, Kalla, as he is commonly known, was accompanied by former Minister of Law and Human Rights Hamid Awaluddin.
“In the conversation and visit from the Iranian Ambassador, the latest situation in Iran was discussed, as well as the resistance of the Iranian people and the casualties mostly suffered by civilians, such as schoolchildren and others,” Kalla said, as quoted from a press statement issued by his spokesman Husain Abdullah.
He added that Iran expects support from the Muslim community, including from Indonesia. According to him, Indonesian society and government in principle support efforts toward peace.
“President Prabowo is ready to serve as a mediator in this conflict. However, of course, agreement from both parties is required. This is something they are always considering,” Kalla said.
Nevertheless, Kalla emphasised that the possibility of such mediation would still be discussed further with the government and depends on the willingness of all parties involved.
