JK: Eid al-Fitr a Momentum to Strengthen National Unity and Solidarity
He conveyed this message after attending Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah/2026 prayers at the Grand Mosque Al Azhar field in Jakarta on Saturday. JK reminded Muslims to utilise the holiday as a platform to strengthen social and national relations. “This is an opportunity for all of us, especially Muslims, to maintain unity and kinship, and to jointly advance the nation and state,” JK stated in his remarks. JK felt grateful that Eid al-Fitr celebrations in Indonesia proceeded conducive and smoothly. In Jakarta, for instance, the Eid prayers were supported by good weather. “Alhamdulillah, although rain was predicted beforehand, it did not happen. It only rained lightly last night. This is a blessing for us all,” he said. On that occasion, JK also touched upon the situation in several Muslim countries, particularly in the Middle East region, which are facing various issues. According to him, that situation serves as a reminder of the importance of maintaining harmony domestically. “We in Indonesia must safeguard that unity. We also support and pray for our brothers in other countries to reunite,” was his message. JK added that this year’s Eid al-Fitr momentum is hoped to strengthen the spirit of togetherness and solidarity, both at the national and global levels. The Eid al-Fitr prayers at the Grand Mosque Al Azhar field were also attended by President Prabowo Subianto’s son, Didit Prabowo, former Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Mahfud MD, former Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan, and former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court Prof. Jimly Asshiddiqie. Several of these figures appeared immersed in the atmosphere of Eid camaraderie and kinship.
