Jember, East Java (ANTARA) - The Regent of Jember, East Java, Muhammad Fawait, is preparing a Work From Home (WFH) scheme for State Civil Apparatus (ASN) to support energy efficiency in the regency. “In response to the instability of the geopolitical situation in the Middle East, which impacts global oil price fluctuations, I have instructed energy and budget-saving measures within the Jember Regency Government (Pemkab),” said Muhammad Fawait in a written statement received in Jember on Monday. He explained that the significant rise in global crude oil prices places substantial pressure on the central government’s fuel subsidy burden, so the President’s call for efficiency must be answered with concrete actions at the local level. “As part of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI), we must be sensitive to global conditions. Instability in the Middle East causes oil prices to fluctuate. If consumption is not controlled, the national subsidy burden will swell even further,” he stated. “We guarantee that energy availability for the public remains in a safe condition,” he added. As a concrete action, Pemkab Jember has decided not to hold an open house event at the Pendapa Wahyawibawagraha during this year’s Eid celebrations. Although eliminating the formal open house ceremony, Regent Fawait remains open to cadres and the public who wish to engage in simple silaturahmi (socialising). In addition to limiting ceremonial activities, Pemkab Jember through the Personnel and Human Resources Development Agency (BKPSDM) is currently formulating a work-from-home scheme. This step is projected as one way to curb the use of official vehicles and office operations energy. “We are preparing the scheme. Perhaps one or two days of WFH per week. With the experience from the COVID-19 period, I am confident that public services will remain excellent and undisturbed,” he said.
