Jember Regency Government Prepares Free Eid Travel with Routes to Jakarta through Bali
Jember, East Java (ANTARA) — Jember Regency Government in East Java is providing free Eid homecoming travel for Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri with services covering routes to Jakarta, Madura, Ponorogo and Bali under the programme “Safe Travel Sharing Love 2026”.
This annual flagship initiative of Jember Regent Muhammad Fawait has been specifically designed to facilitate residents wishing to return home for Eid without being burdened by high travel costs during the traditional homecoming period.
“Through this initiative, the local government seeks to be present amongst the community to ensure that the Eid silaturahmi moment can be enjoyed by all segments of society in a more affordable and comfortable manner,” said Jember Transportation Head Gatot Triyono.
He stated that the office had mapped strategic routes encompassing outbound and return travel flows for migrant workers. For journeys to Jember, buses will depart from Bali on 16 March 2026 and from Jakarta on 18 March 2026, whilst departures from Jember heading to Madura and the Mataram Ponorogo region are scheduled for 19 March 2026.
Triyono emphasised that safety is the foundation of programme implementation, with the provision of free buses intended to discourage residents from using motorcycles for long-distance travel, which carries higher accident risks.
To ensure passenger security, all buses deployed have undergone thorough road-worthiness inspections before being cleared for operation on the Eid travel routes.
Registration for the free Eid travel programme opened on 25 February through 13 March 2026 during office hours, from 08:00 to 15:00 Western Indonesia Time, with digital registration available through the link bit.ly/jembermudik2026 or by scanning the QR code on official information channels.
