JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Selling pressure from foreign investors on large-cap banking stocks was the main catalyst for the weakening of the Composite Stock Price Index (JCI), which fell again during Wednesday’s trading (22/4/2026), extending the correction trend to three consecutive days.

According to data from the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI), foreign investors recorded a net sell of Rp 827.42 billion across the entire market.

The heaviest pressure occurred in the regular market with foreign selling value of Rp 1.04 trillion, while in the negotiation market there was a net buy of Rp 212.58 billion.

The outflow of foreign funds appeared concentrated on jumbo banking stocks.

The movement of large-cap banking stocks still seemed unable to escape the pressure, although they began showing signs of holding back the weakening during Wednesday’s trading.

BMRI shares closed with a slight gain to 4,750, up 1.06%.

Throughout the trading session, BMRI moved in a narrow range with a tendency towards consolidation, briefly reaching a high of 4,770.

BBRI shares continued their weakening trend.

BBRI fell 0.92% to 3,240.

Similar pressure was also seen in BBCA shares, which weakened 0.77% to 6,450.

BBCA’s movement tended to be sideways in the lower area, with several failed attempts to rise.

On the other hand, foreign investors continued to accumulate in several commodity and energy-based stocks.

PT Sawit Sumbermas Sarana Tbk (SSMS) recorded the largest net buy of Rp 112.8 billion, followed by PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BBNI) at Rp 112.1 billion, and PT Energi Mega Persada Tbk (ENRG) at Rp 93.3 billion.

Overall, the JCI during Wednesday’s trading showed dominant pressure, reflected in its close at 7,541.61, down 0.24%.

Throughout the session, the index moved in a relatively limited range, with a high of 7,578.05 and briefly touching a low of 7,513.94.

From a liquidity perspective, trading activity was classified as high with a volume of 49.44 billion shares and transaction value of Rp 18.14 trillion.

Transaction frequency also nearly reached 3 million times.

Interestingly, the number of advancing stocks was higher, at 440 stocks, compared to 240 declining stocks and 141 stagnant stocks.
