Jakarta – The JCI opened weaker by 33 points or 0.45% at the level of 7,560 during Tuesday’s trading session, 21 April 2026.

Head of Retail Research at BNI Sekuritas, Fanny Suherman, predicts that the JCI will once again be overshadowed by a correction in today’s trading.

“The JCI has the potential to correct again today,” said Fanny in her daily research on Tuesday, 21 April 2026.

She stated that Asia-Pacific stock markets turned green in yesterday’s trading on Monday, as investors continued to monitor developments in the Middle East cautiously amid renewed escalation in Iran-US tensions.

US President Donald Trump stated on Sunday, 19 April 2026, that a guided-missile destroyer of the US Navy had fired upon and disabled an Iranian-flagged cargo ship in the Gulf of Oman, before marines boarded and seized the vessel.

This seizure marks an escalation in the blockade, following Iran’s firing upon commercial ships attempting to cross the Strait of Hormuz on Sunday morning.

Meanwhile in Asia, South Korea’s Kospi index rose 0.44%, and Kosdaq strengthened 0.41%. In Japan, the Nikkei 225 index increased 0.60%, and Topix added 0.43%. On the other hand, Australia’s S&P 200 index rose moderately by 0.07%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng strengthened 0.77%, and Taiwan’s Taiex added 0.42%.

“The JCI support is at the level of 7,500-7,560, while the JCI resistance is in the range of 7,620-7,670,” she said.

For information, Wall Street closed weaker in yesterday’s trading on Monday amid rising tensions between the US and Iran. The S&P 500 index fell 0.24%, the Nasdaq Composite weakened 0.26%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average dipped slightly by 0.01%, and the Russell 2000 strengthened 0.58%.

Meanwhile, market participants are still struggling to predict the worst-case scenario from the US-Iran conflict, especially after stock markets previously recovered from correction territory to return to all-time highs.

Tensions have escalated after Donald Trump stated that his side had shot at and seized an Iranian-flagged cargo ship in the Gulf of Oman. This step was taken after Iran refused to participate in a new round of peace talks planned by the US in Pakistan.

Trump also threatened to destroy Iran’s critical infrastructure if the country does not agree to a deal with the US. Meanwhile, the ceasefire period between the two countries is scheduled to end this weekend.
