JCI Opens in the Green, Poised for Rebound as Asian Markets Strengthen on Optimism Over Iran-US Agreement
Jakarta, VIVA – The JCI opened stronger by 17 points or 0.23% at the level of 7,639 during the opening of trading on Friday, 17 April 2026.
Head of Retail Research at BNI Sekuritas, Fanny Suherman, predicted that the JCI has the potential to rebound in today’s trading.
“The JCI has the potential to rebound today,” said Fanny in her daily research on Friday, 17 April 2026.
She stated that Asian stock markets mostly strengthened in Thursday’s trading, driven by optimism over reaching an agreement to end the Iran conflict.
Positive sentiment emerged alongside increasing US pressure on Tehran, as well as market participants preparing for the release of economic data and corporate earnings reports.
Japan’s Nikkei 225 index surged 2.38%, while the Topix jumped 1.17%. Meanwhile, South Korea’s Kospi rose 2.21% and Kosdaq increased 0.91%.
Hong Kong’s Hang Seng strengthened 1.72%, China’s CSI 300 rose 1.1%, and Taiwan’s Taiex added 1.12%. In contrast, Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 fell 0.26%, the FTSE Straits Times weakened 0.16%, and Malaysia’s FTSE Malay KLCI declined 0.27%.
In addition, market participants are now awaiting several key data points, including Australia’s employment report and China’s gross domestic product (GDP).
Taiwanese semiconductor giant Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company is scheduled to release its financial results, with expectations of a net profit surge of up to 50% due to high demand for advanced AI chips.
“JCI support is at the level of 7,580-7,600, while JCI resistance is in the range of 7,650-7,730,” she said.
For information, Wall Street stock indices collectively posted impressive performances at the close of Thursday’s trading. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite indices both recorded all-time highs, driven by market optimism regarding the potential end to the Iran conflict.
The S&P 500 rose 0.26%, Nasdaq strengthened 0.36%, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average added 0.24%. The market rally was propelled by positive sentiment following US President Donald Trump’s confirmation of discussions with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
In his statement, Trump noted that Israel and Lebanon have agreed to a 10-day ceasefire starting at 5:00 PM US time. The halt of Israeli attacks on Lebanon is said to be one of the key conditions to reopen negotiations between the US and Iran.
