REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — The Secretary General of Peradi Profesional, Yuhelson, has been officially appointed as an Honorary Professor in the field of bankruptcy law at Universitas Jayabaya. He becomes the first secretary general of an advocate organisation in Indonesia to achieve professorial status with this specialisation.

Wakil Rektor IV of Universitas Jayabaya, Prof. Harris Arthur Hedar, stated that this achievement is an important milestone for the national legal profession. “We are proud of his success; he is the only secretary general in an advocate organisation to become a professor in the field of bankruptcy,” said Prof. Harris after the appointment ceremony in Jakarta on Wednesday (15/4/2026).

He assessed that the title is not merely an academic accomplishment but also a symbol of tangible contributions to bankruptcy law. “I extend my congratulations to Prof. Yuhelson, Secretary General of Peradi Profesional, the pride of Peradi Profesional who has earned the title of professor in bankruptcy law, the first in Indonesia,” he said.

Rector of Universitas Jayabaya, Prof. Fauzie Yusuf Hasibuan, emphasised that this honorary professorship entails significant responsibilities. “It is not only a personal pride but also a great trust to develop knowledge and contribute to society, the nation, and the state,” said Fauzie.

In his scientific oration, Yuhelson highlighted the bankruptcy law approach, which he deemed overly focused on liquidation. He proposed the Summum Bonum concept, emphasising business rescue over mere asset dissolution.

“Where the ideas and thoughts presented in this scientific oration analyse the paradigm shift in Indonesian bankruptcy law, from a liquidation orientation to a business rescue or corporate rescue orientation,” said Yuhelson.

He argued that a rigid legal approach risks overlooking broader economic impacts, including business continuity and employment. “In legal philosophy, if the law is enforced rigidly, it can result in Summum Ius Summa Iniuria. Therefore, reconciliation serves as a correction to achieve more substantive justice that benefits society at large,” he stated.

The appointment ceremony was held at the Auditorium Prof. Dr. H. Moeslim Taher in Jakarta and attended by several state officials and leaders of the DPR RI.
