Jaya group, Lloyd form new firm

JAKARTA (JP): The Pembangunan Jaya Group has set up a joint
venture company with Lloyd's Register of Britain.

The new firm offers consulting services designed to assist
Indonesian companies in attaining the internationally recognized
management system stipulated by the ISO 9000 certificates.

"Lloyd's Register holds a 60 percent stake in the joint
venture, while PT Capitol Mutual Corporation, a subsidiary of the
Jaya Group, owns the remaining 40 percent," Peter Holland,
president of the new company, told reporters here yesterday
during the launching ceremony.

The new company, called PT Lloyd's Register Advisory Services
Indonesia (LRASI), has working capital of US$400,000 for the
initial stage of operation.

Holland explained yesterday that LRASI's services can be
utilized by various companies of different sizes and by
industries.

"Needless to say, ISO 9000 is the required ticket for firms to
join the global market," he said, adding that the joint venture
firm already has six clients. (hdj)
