Jatinegara Police seize motorcycle without STNK during night patrol
Jatinegara Police Station seized a motorcycle during a joint security patrol after the rider failed to produce a vehicle registration certificate (STNK) in Jatinegara, East Jakarta.
“Officers seized a Yamaha motorcycle with registration plate B-6506-SRL because the rider could not present the STNK,” said Jatinegara Police Chief Kompol Samsono in Jakarta on Monday.
The security patrol and vehicle check aimed to prevent robbery, street fights, and other road crimes in Jatinegara’s jurisdiction in East Jakarta early Monday morning.
Samsono added that the security operation was a preventive measure to maintain public safety and order, especially during high-risk crime hours.
The security patrol commenced at 1:00 AM WIB at Gang Remaja 5, DI Panjaitan Street, Cipinang Besar Utara Village, Jatinegara District, East Jakarta.
A total of 18 personnel were deployed, comprising 13 from Jatinegara Police Station, two from the Civil Service Police (Satpol PP), one city council member (Dekot), and two from the Community Early Warning Forum (FKDM).
Samsono further stated that the night patrol was a preventive measure against rising street crimes, particularly robberies and 3C crimes: aggravated theft (Curat), violent theft (Curas), and motor vehicle theft (Curanmor).
“From tonight onwards, security operations will be intensified to prevent highway robberies and road crimes,” Samsono said.
Officers then conducted mobile patrols and set up strong points at vulnerable locations along DI Panjaitan Street and the Prumpung area.
In addition to patrols, personnel checked vehicles of those passing through during night-time hours.
The security operation began around 1:20 AM WIB with vehicle checks in Gang Remaja Prumpung.
The checks were conducted to ensure public safety and comfort for those active or returning home late at night.
The operation proceeded smoothly overall, with no notable fights or criminal incidents reported during the patrol.
Jatinegara Police Station confirmed that security patrols will continue regularly to reduce crime rates and ensure public safety in East Jakarta, particularly in Jatinegara, a hotspot for nighttime street fights and crimes.
