Central Java Regional Secretary Sumarno officially launched the Jasirah Heritage Cycling 2026 event at the Bank Indonesia Central Java Representative Office on Saturday (20/6/2026). The cross-destination heritage cycling activity is an effort to introduce the province’s tourism potential while simultaneously boosting regional economic growth.

The route connects a series of historical sites, including Kota Lama Semarang, Lawang Sewu, Benteng Willem II Ungaran, Benteng Fort Willem I Ambarawa, the Ambarawa Railway Museum, the Diponegoro Museum, Mendut Temple, Pawon Temple, and the Borobudur area in Magelang.

Sumarno stated that tourism plays a strategic role in increasing visits from people outside the region, which in turn impacts economic growth. He emphasised that the provincial government continues to encourage collaboration with various parties, including Bank Indonesia, to develop the sector. “Our economic growth is largely supported by consumption, so attracting visitors from outside Central Java is important, and one way is through tourism,” he said.

Head of the Bank Indonesia Central Java Representative Office, Mohamad Noor Nugroho, explained that Jasirah Heritage Cycling adopts a historical tourism concept to help the public become more familiar with the wealth of heritage destinations in Central Java. The activity is also expected to provide economic benefits for communities and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) around tourist areas. In addition to cycling, the Jasirah Heritage Cycling 2026 programme will continue with social media management training for local governments to strengthen digital promotion of tourist destinations and the local economy.
