Jakarta — Jasa Raharja launched the departure of participants in the Free BUMN Mudik 2026 programme from the Ring Road area of Gelora Bung Karno (GBK), Jakarta, on Tuesday, 17 March 2026, in the morning. The sendoff ceremony was scheduled to take place at 06:30 Western Indonesian Time.

From early morning, the ring road area at the GBK complex was crowded with prospective travellers preparing to depart to various destinations. They arrived carrying bags, suitcases, and cardboard boxes containing their belongings for the journey home to their villages before Eid al-Fitr.

Muhammad Awaluddin, Chief Executive Director of Jasa Raharja and Coordinating Head of the Free BUMN Mudik 2026 programme, stated that passenger safety is the primary priority in implementing the programme.

“We ensure that our fleet is roadworthy, drivers are competent, and we maintain solid coordination with all stakeholders,” Awaluddin said in an official statement in Jakarta in early March 2026.

“Our hope is that every traveller arrives home safely and carries stories of happiness,” he added.

Panitia officers together with volunteers helped facilitate the departure flow whilst ensuring orderly boarding procedures.

The mudik journey from Jakarta was directed to various cities on the islands of Java and Sumatra. Several routes serving as traveller destinations include Semarang, Solo, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Lampung, Palembang, and Malang.

The programme, titled “Comfortable Mudik Together”, is part of a collective mudik initiative organised by the BUMN Management Agency in collaboration with Danantara and involving 96 BUMN companies.

Jasa Raharja is targeting 23,500 mudik participants this year, representing an 11.41 per cent increase compared with the previous year’s achievement.

According to Awaluddin, the programme represents a form of corporate social responsibility and a commitment to delivering state presence during the Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah mudik period.

“Mudik is a tradition rich in meaning,” he said.

“Through Free BUMN Mudik 2026, we want to ensure that the public can return home peacefully, safely, and securely,” he stated.
