Jasa Marga Records 14 Per Cent of Vehicles Have Left Jakarta on First Day of Ketupat Operation 2026
On the first day of the 2026 Ketupat Operation, PT Jasa Marga recorded that a portion of vehicles had already begun leaving Jakarta via toll roads. By Friday 13 March, approximately 14 per cent of vehicles were estimated to have departed the capital.
Chief Executive Officer Rivan A. Purwantoro explained that this figure was derived from projections of the total number of vehicles expected to travel out of Jakarta during the homecoming travel period.
“From Jasa Marga’s projection of vehicles currently leaving Jakarta at 14 per cent. Of course, this can still occur without any control measures or traffic engineering,” said Chief Executive Rivan A. Purwantoro at Jasa Marga’s JTMC Building in Bekasi, West Java, on Saturday 14 March.
Rivan disclosed that the 14 per cent was equivalent to approximately 285,000 vehicles from a total of 3.5 million vehicles projected to leave Jakarta via toll roads.
The majority of vehicles that have already moved out of Jakarta were found to be heading towards the Trans Jawa toll route, which has traditionally been the main route for homecoming travel to various areas on the island of Java.
“The distribution is also still the same, with the Trans Jawa direction appearing to dominate. The others have not yet appeared, such as towards Bandung, which has also not yet shown numbers from what was projected,” he said.
According to Rivan, vehicle movement is expected to continue increasing over the coming days. His office will continue to monitor traffic flow developments during the homecoming period.
“There is still a possibility that on Saturday and Sunday, there will be more movement,” he said.
Previously, Rivan also reported that the number of vehicles estimated to leave Jakarta during this year’s homecoming period reached 3.5 million units.
“So, the projection is 3.5 million vehicles. We are seeing that the peak of the homecoming traffic flow will occur on 18 March. However, we anticipate it will begin from Friday 13 March of this week,” he said.
From the total projection, travel distribution is estimated to be divided into several directions. Approximately 28 per cent of vehicles are predicted to head towards Merak, 50 per cent towards the eastern regions up to Cipularang, and approximately 20 per cent towards the Bogor area.
