Jasa Marga Accelerates Toll Road Preservation to Ensure Safe Eid Travel
PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk is ensuring all toll road sections remain in prime condition ahead of the anticipated surge in mobility during Eid Idul Fitri 1447 H/2026. The company is accelerating its toll road preservation programme to maintain safety and comfort for users.
This measure is being implemented because high rainfall has the potential to damage road surfaces. The situation is further aggravated by heavy traffic, including vehicles with excessive loads or Over Dimension Over Loading (ODOL).
Based on meteorological agency forecasts, weather during the 2026 Eid holiday period is expected to be dominated by light to moderate rain in several Indonesian regions. For this reason, Jasa Marga is accelerating a comprehensive and continuous toll road preservation programme.
Through this initiative, Jasa Marga is targeting completion of all toll road surface defects by 14 March 2026. The effort is designed to maintain optimal operational service while meeting Minimum Service Standards (SPM) ahead of the Eid holiday.
Jasa Marga Chief Executive Officer Rivan A. Purwantono has apologised for the inconvenience experienced by toll road users due to surface damage on several sections. He also apologised to users affected by ongoing preservation works.
“We are committed to accelerating preservation so that the safety, comfort and security of toll road users remain protected, especially in facing the surge in traffic volume during the Eid exodus and return,” Rivan said in a written statement on Thursday (12 March 2026).
The preservation works are being carried out under the supervision of the Ministry of Public Works as part of meeting maximum service standards (SPM). The effort also forms part of Jasa Marga’s commitment to improving the quality of toll road services for the public.
“To this end, we are conducting this preservation process massively and in a coordinated manner so that every toll section operates at a prime service level. By placing safety as our top priority, Jasa Marga is committed to providing safe, comfortable and secure Eid travel. Once again, we apologise to road users,” Rivan said.
Technically, preservation works include scraping, filling, and overlay (SFO) to restore road surface quality. In addition, rapid pothole patching is being carried out along with strengthening of pavement structures at points affected by ODOL vehicle loads.
Jasa Marga is also conducting drainage cleaning and normalisation to prevent flooding caused by heavy rainfall that could accelerate road construction damage.
Beyond focusing on road surfaces, the preservation programme also encompasses road marking painting, guardrail repairs, and maintenance of road signs and street lighting. The programme is conducted proactively, preventively, and routinely to maintain toll road infrastructure reliability.
As part of enhanced service during the 2026 Eid period, Jasa Marga is also increasing readiness of standby teams and supporting infrastructure. Road and bridge pavement teams have been increased to 67 units, right-of-way and drainage teams total 222 units, and emergency response teams total 71 units.
Additionally, the company has prepared 9,300 sacks of coldmix material for rapid repairs, 209 pumping units, and 14 early warning system (EWS) points for flooding as a precautionary measure against potential disruptions from extreme weather.
To maintain pavement quality in the good category, Jasa Marga will also carry out structural repairs through SFO and reconstruction work on several toll road sections. Permanent patching is also being conducted at points requiring urgent attention to keep road conditions optimal.
Work is being carried out in phases with strict traffic management to avoid disrupting public mobility. Most work is carried out from evening through early morning hours with single-lane restrictions and equipped with warning signs and safety devices at work locations.
Patrol officers and tow truck units are also on standby 24 hours to ensure rapid response if emergency conditions occur in the field.
“All preservation activities are carried out in accordance with occupational health and safety standards (K3), and coordinated with the Police, Ministry of Public Works, and relevant stakeholders. Traffic engineering information and road condition developments are also communicated in real time through Jasa Marga’s official social media, Call Centre 133, and the Travoy application,” Rivan concluded.
