PT Jasa Marga predicts that 3.5 million vehicles will leave Jakarta during this year’s Lebaran mudik period. This projection is based on traffic data processing using the company’s latest technology.

“We estimate that 3.5 million vehicles will pass out of Jakarta. From the data we have, we use projections that, alhamdulillah, in the past year have utilised the Intelligent Transportation System platform, enhanced camera facilities into ITA or Intelligent Traffic Analysis, as well as radar,” said PT Jasa Marga President Director Rivan Achmad Purwantono during a press conference at the Bina Graha Building, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday (18/3/2026).

To date, around 34 percent of the total projection has been recorded as having passed out of the capital region through several major toll roads. This significant increase forms one of the bases for implementing traffic engineering in the form of a one-way system when vehicle volumes reach around 30 percent.

“The development has already reached 34% of the population that has left. This is why yesterday afternoon, when it reached 30%, together with the Minister of Transportation and the National Traffic Police Chief, we decided on one way. The one way started from segment 70 to 263,” said Rivan.

Furthermore, Jasa Marga has also recorded a surge in average daily traffic (LHR). Today, the number of vehicles is estimated to reach 256,000, while the previous night it was recorded at 221,000 vehicles, becoming the highest figure since 13 March 2026.

“Today it is estimated to reach 256,000 LHR, and last night alone it was proven at 221,000, which is the highest since 13 March,” he said.

Rivan added that the majority of the mudik flow is directed towards the eastern region. Around 50 percent of vehicles are recorded heading to the Trans Jawa route, which is the main destination for mudik travellers this year.

“And the distribution that is large for the mudik flow is 50% to the east, namely towards Trans Jawa,” he stated.
