Jakarta: The Japanese government considers Indonesia one of the most promising countries for long-term investment, particularly in the automotive industry sector. This was stated by Myochin Mitsuru, Chargé d’Affaires ad interim at the Embassy of Japan in Jakarta.

“Indonesia is the third most promising country for long-term investment, meaning over the next decade,” said Myochin, quoted from Antara.

According to him, many Japanese companies view Indonesia as a strategic market with strong long-term growth potential. The automotive industry is seen as one of the most promising key sectors.

In addition to automotive, other sectors attractive to Japanese investors include rubber and plastic products, real estate, manufacturing, and the food industry.

“Therefore, we expect various investments to be made by Japanese companies in Indonesia,” he said.

This statement comes following a meeting between Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi in Tokyo, Japan, last month. The meeting resulted in significant investment commitments from the Japanese side.

In addition to bilateral agendas, President Prabowo also attended a business seminar in Tokyo attended by business actors from Indonesia and Japan. In that forum, several business-to-business (B2B) memoranda of understanding (MoUs) were successfully signed.

The total value of the agreed investments reaches approximately $23 billion or equivalent to Rp397.6 trillion. This value reflects the great interest of Japanese companies in expanding investments in Indonesia.

“So, a large amount of project funds has been allocated by Japanese companies to be invested in Indonesia,” Myochin said.
