Jakarta (ANTARA) - Japan’s Chargé d’Affaires ad interim at the Embassy in Jakarta, Myochin Mitsuru, stated that Indonesia is a promising country for long-term investment, particularly in the automotive industry.

“Indonesia is the third most promising country for long-term investment, meaning over the next decade,” Myochin said during a discussion with the media at the Japanese Embassy in Jakarta on Thursday (23/4).

He revealed that many Japanese companies view Indonesia as a highly promising country for long-term investment.

Among the various potentials available, the automotive industry is one of the major promising sectors.

In addition, rubber and plastic products, real estate, manufacturing, and food are also included in the promising sectors for Japanese companies to invest in.

“Therefore, we expect that various investments will be made by Japanese companies in Indonesia,” he said.

Myochin made this statement following a summit meeting between Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi in Tokyo, Japan, last month, which resulted in significant investment commitments from Japan to Indonesia.

In addition to meeting the Japanese Prime Minister, President Prabowo also attended a business seminar in Tokyo, which was attended by Indonesian and Japanese private sector companies.

Many memoranda of understanding (MoUs) were signed, all based on business-to-business (B2B) principles, with a total value of around $23 billion (approximately Rp397.6 trillion).

“So, a large amount of project funds has been allocated by Japanese companies to be invested in Indonesia,” Myochin said.
