Japan gives aid for schools
NABIRE, Irian Jaya: Japan, through its Overseas Economic Cooperation Fund, has provided aid of Rp 739 million (US$325,120) to the Paniai regency administration to build a high school.
Antara reported that the funds will be used to build three classrooms, a staff room, library, prayer house, laboratories, storage rooms and bathrooms. The school will be constructed on a four-hectare plot of land.
The local office of the Ministry of Education said there are currently 3,836 high school students with 148 teachers.
Last year Japan provided aid of Rp 309 million for the construction of a high school building in the East Paniai sub- district. (swe)
