Jambi Proposes Two Locations for Establishing Garuda Excellence School

Jambi City (ANTARA) - The Jambi Provincial Government has proposed two locations, one each in Bungo Regency and East Tanjung Jabung Regency, for the establishment of the Garuda Excellence School to the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen). “Administratively and in terms of institutional requirements, everything is ready; now we just await the ministry’s approval and the subsequent field survey,” said Acting Head of the Jambi Provincial Education Office, Muhammad Umar, in Jambi on Tuesday. Umar explained that the proposals for these two regions are based on the readiness of administration and fulfilment of the institutional requirements set by the ministry, such as the need for a minimum of 20 hectares of land, which has been met by both areas. In particular, in Bungo Regency, the area has even prepared two sites around Muara Bungo Airport and the area around the Sumatra Crossroad. Meanwhile, for the East Tanjung Jabung Regency area, the local government has prepared land in the Integrated Independent City (KTM) area in Geragai Subdistrict. He added that the proposal for establishing the Garuda Excellence School must consider factors of security, freedom from disaster threats, and support from a good mitigation system. Jambi Province is one of 23 proposing regions, from which 20 sites across Indonesia will ultimately be selected for the construction of these flagship schools. The establishment of the Garuda Excellence School is expected to serve as a driving force to improve the Human Development Index (HDI) in Jambi Province, which currently remains in the medium category. “The institutional requirements are already in place; now the ministry will conduct an evaluation through a field survey to ensure alignment between the administrative data and the conditions at the site locations,” Umar clarified.
