Jakarta — South Jakarta’s Sub-Department of Industry, Trade, Cooperatives and Small-Medium Enterprises (PPKUKM) views bazaar activities held during Ramadan as a platform for promoting local economic products.

“Bazaar participants are members of Jakpreneur, which represents a form of facilitation for product promotion and capacity-building by the provincial government for supported SMEs,” said Djaharuddin, Head of South Jakarta’s Sub-Department of Industry, Trade, Cooperatives and Small-Medium Enterprises, when contacted in Jakarta on Tuesday.

He stated that bazaar participants are Jakpreneur members facilitated by the local government to promote their products whilst receiving business development support.

He also explained that product prices sold, such as food and clothing at the bazaar, vary depending on the type of goods offered by traders.

“Prices naturally vary depending on the type of product, but typically range from Rp25,000 to Rp100,000,” said Djaharuddin.

According to him, bazaars held regularly and attracting many visitors can generate positive impacts on the local economy.

Djaharuddin viewed the bazaar as a direct marketing platform for small business operators, making their products more easily recognised and potentially increasing sales.

“Bazaars, particularly those held regularly and attracting crowds, can have several positive impacts on the local economy,” said Djaharuddin.

He added that bazaars can also encourage mutually beneficial collaboration between communities and business operators.

However, he stated that his office cannot accurately measure the income increases earned by traders during the bazaar.

Nevertheless, he remained optimistic that business operators would benefit in terms of product promotion or brand strengthening.

“Yes, from the aspect of product promotion and branding they do benefit,” said Djaharuddin.

Furthermore, he noted that a typical bazaar event usually involves approximately 30 micro, small and medium enterprises and runs for two days.

In addition to involving Jakpreneur business operators, the Ramadan bazaar also partners with other organisations to provide affordable food markets for the public.

“As it happens, during the Ramadan bazaar we have partnered with BUMD Food Station, Bulog and other partners to implement affordable food markets,” explained Djaharuddin.

The South Jakarta Sub-Department of Industry, Trade, Cooperatives and Small-Medium Enterprises is holding bazaar activities throughout February-March 2026, coinciding with the holy month of Ramadan.
