Jakbar Road Infrastructure Sub-District Cuts 4 km of Messy Cables Belonging to Various Operators in Kalideres
JAKARTA – The West Jakarta Road Infrastructure Sub-District Office conducted enforcement against tangled overhead cables along Jalan Peta Barat, Pegadungan, Kalideres, West Jakarta, on Tuesday morning (5/5/2026).
West Jakarta Mayor Iin Mutmainnah stated that the enforcement involved cutting cables belonging to various operators over a 4-kilometre stretch.
This step is part of reorganising utility networks to avoid damaging the city’s aesthetics and endangering the public.
The enforcement refers to several regulations, including Regional Regulation Number 8 of 1999 on Utility Networks, Regional Regulation Number 1 of 2012 on Spatial Planning and Regional Structure Plan, Regional Regulation Number 106 of 2019 on Guidelines for Utility Network Management, and Regional Regulation Number 8 of 2025 on Utility Network Placement.
According to Iin, the pile-up of overhead cables in the area makes the city look shabby and poses a potential danger to the public.
“Besides area beautification, the aim is also to improve security and comfort for road users, both drivers and pedestrians, as well as to maintain the city’s aesthetics,” said Iin.
She added that this step also aims to provide understanding and a deterrent effect to the cable-owning operators.
Head of the West Jakarta Road Infrastructure Sub-District Office, Taufik Hendayana, explained that this 4-kilometre cable enforcement is part of the long-term target for utility arrangement in the region.
“This enforcement is a continuation of activities carried out since 2023. The target is for enforcement activities up to 2027 to cover 18 kilometres,” Taufik revealed.
” In West Jakarta, it has already been done in several places. It will be followed up next year in highly prioritised locations with adequate spatial planning,” he clarified.
Interestingly, this cable arrangement process does not burden the regional budget as it is carried out through collaboration with the private sector.
