Jakarta's RPIP Provincial Regulation Expected to Guide Industrial Development Direction
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Chairman of the Regional Regulation Formation Agency (Bapemperda) of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Jhonny Simanjuntak, stated that the Provincial Regulation on the Provincial Industrial Development Plan (RPIP) 2026–2046 is expected to serve as a guideline for Jakarta’s industrial development direction over the next 20 years. “The industrial development direction is focused on increasing productivity, value added, and transitioning to high-tech industries,” said Jhonny in Jakarta on Thursday. On Thursday, the DKI Jakarta DPRD approved the Draft Regional Regulation (Raperda) on the Provincial Industrial Development Plan (RPIP) 2026–2046 as a Regional Regulation (Perda) during a plenary session at the DPRD. In presenting the report on the discussion results, Jhonny explained that the implementation of the Perda is supported by strategic steps such as strengthening raw material supplies, production process efficiency, and technology development. “Not only that, the RPIP Perda also includes improvements in human resource quality and business institutions,” he said. Additionally, strengthening production and distribution networks, increasing exports, and developing innovative products are priorities, even supported by research and cross-sector collaborations. Jhonny added that the Perda, which has been approved by the DPRD, will be evaluated by the Ministry of Home Affairs before being promulgated. “In accordance with the provisions,” he said. Meanwhile, Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung emphasised that Jakarta’s industrial development direction is no longer reliant on conventional manufacturing, but rather towards a modern industrial services centre based on innovation and technology. “Jakarta is directed to become a modern industrial services centre and a global supply chain hub,” said Pramono.
