Jakarta West City Government Targets Detection of Over 11,000 TB Cases by 2026
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta West City Government (Pemkot Jakbar), through the Health Sub-District Office, targets the detection of 11,955 tuberculosis (TB) cases in its area by 2026. “The target for findings this year is 11,955 cases. From 1 January to 15 April 2026, there have already been 3,027 cases,” said the Head of the Jakarta West Health Sub-District Office, Sahruna, when contacted by ANTARA in Jakarta on Friday. This number, she said, continues to increase in line with ongoing detection efforts to fulfil the TB elimination in Jakarta by 2030. She explained that TB detection is carried out through two approaches: active and passive. “Active case-finding efforts include health screenings, Free Health Checks (CKG) in the community, and efforts by TB Cadres in the field, while passive efforts involve suspects coming to health facilities,” Sahruna stated. Technically, through health facilities, they implement specific procedures to ensure positive TB cases. “Accurate and rapid diagnostic confirmation is carried out through sputum examination and X-ray according to indications,” Sahruna added. “There is monitoring of medication adherence, examination of close contacts of TB patients, followed by the provision of TB preventive drugs to healthy close contacts of TB patients to prevent infection,” revealed Arum. In addition, they are intensifying TB prevention efforts, particularly through counselling. “We conduct promotion and education on TB prevention through immunisation, clean and healthy living behaviours, coughing etiquette, and information on accessing health services if TB symptoms appear,” Arum concluded.
