Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta Provincial Department of Cipta Karya Tata Ruang dan Pertanahan (Citata) will take firm steps, ranging from sealing to permanent shutdown of operations, against buildings proven to deliberately ignore the permit for the Certificate of Proper Function (SLF). Vera Revina Sari, head of Citata DKI Jakarta, said the SLF is not merely bureaucratic compliance but a duty to ensure the reliability of buildings before they officially operate to the public. ‘A building can be used because it has or fulfils safety, comfort, health and other requirements,’ Vera said in a statement in Jakarta on Tuesday. She emphasised that every building must pass two licensing stages, namely Building Permit Approval (PBG) and SLF, because safety aspects are important for mitigating potential disasters. Therefore, the Jakarta Provincial Government will not hesitate to take repressive actions against violators. ‘Warning letters 1, 2, 3, temporary suspension, then permanent shutdown,’ said Vera. ‘We convey to the Head of Citata that we must take a firm stance. In the form of Warning Letters (SP) 1 and 2 until the building is sealed,’ Fuadi said. According to him, many building owners still ignore the SLF function as a supplement to bureaucratic processes. After all, the document is closely linked to public safety guarantees and disaster mitigation, such as fires or collapsed buildings. Fuadi noted that in the Terra Drone Building fire incident some time ago, it was proven that the SLF permit status had expired. Therefore, he urged Citata DKI to issue SP1 against building owners who have not renewed or obtained the SLF. Fuadi also asked Citata DKI Jakarta to build a real-time monitoring system to map accurately the number of buildings that do not yet have SLF permits and to identify abandoned buildings that are no longer operational.
