Jakarta’s Provincial Government (Pemprov) DKI has declared its readiness to implement a Work From Home (WFH) system for Civil Servants (ASN) to anticipate energy pressures resulting from the conflict between the United States, Israel, and Iran.

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung explained that this policy is being prepared in response to geopolitical dynamics that directly impact fuel supply and pricing.

In response to the national energy conservation initiative, Pramono assured that aligned steps would be taken by the Jakarta Provincial Government.

“For Work From Home, whatever directive comes from the central government will also be implemented in Jakarta,” said Pramono at the National Monument (Monas) area in Central Jakarta on Tuesday (17 March).

“Because regardless, this prolonged conflict in Iran will certainly create pressure on energy provision, particularly for gas and fuel,” he added.

The adjustment to the work system is considered crucial for reducing mobility rates whilst conserving fuel consumption in the capital amid the surge in global energy prices.

“And prices are indeed experiencing significant increases at the moment,” said Pramono.

Regarding the specific mechanism and implementation timeline, the provincial government is still awaiting official regulations to be issued by the central government. However, he assured that his administration would not take differing steps and would fully comply with national policy to maintain energy reserve stability.

“Should the central government implement this comprehensively, Jakarta will follow suit,” said Pramono.
