The Jakarta Revenue Agency (Bapenda) will continue to collect taxes on electric vehicles despite being advised to exempt them. Head of Bapenda DKI Jakarta, Lusiana Herawati, stated that the tax collection is carried out reasonably, while still providing incentives.

According to her, the government has prepared a tariff formulation following the issuance of Minister of Home Affairs Regulation (Permendagri) Number 11 of 2026. “At that time, we tried to formulate the tariffs that would be applied,” she said in her statement in Jakarta on Saturday (24/4/2026).

She explained that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) had proposed four tiers of incentives. The details are: electric vehicles valued up to Rp300 million receive a 75% incentive, vehicles valued Rp300-500 million receive 65%, vehicles valued Rp500-700 million receive 50%, and vehicles valued above Rp700 million receive 25%.

“So, the tax paid still considers the ability to pay and the principle of justice,” said Lusiana.

However, this policy must comply with Circular Letter of the Ministry of Home Affairs Number 900.1.13.1/3764/SJ, which requests local governments to provide incentives in the form of electric vehicle tax exemptions. “If it’s an exemption, that means the value is zero. That’s what we have to do because there is already guidance from the Ministry of Home Affairs,” Lusiana clarified.
