Jakarta teams up with TNI-Polri to ensure the takbir night is safe in Jakarta
Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov DKI Jakarta) has enlisted the help of the TNI and Polri to ensure security during the takbir night remains safe. ‘The security arrangements will, of course, be coordinated with the police and with the TNI to secure Jakarta,’ said Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung after opening the Bedug Festival at Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM) in Central Jakarta on Saturday. Pramono said he was optimistic and not worried about security for the takbir-night up to the Eid al-Fitr celebrations. While security preparations will continue, he said he was confident the situation in Jakarta would remain safe. He noted that takbir-night security is not new, having become an annual routine. With that experience, the regional government and security forces have a well-developed security pattern to anticipate various potential vulnerabilities. In addition to discussing takbir-night security, he also touched on people’s mobility during the Lebaran holiday. Pramono noted that the mudik tradition is an important moment for the public, including residents who return to Jakarta after celebrating Idul Fitri in their hometowns. The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government welcomed the movement of people and hoped that the mudik journey could proceed safely and comfortably. ‘Mudik to Jakarta remains a priority for the DKI Jakarta Government. Enjoy your mudik to Jakarta,’ Pramono said. He also hopes that, with cross-agency coordination and the readiness of security personnel, the takbir-night atmosphere through to Eid al-Fitr in Jakarta can proceed safely, orderly, and conducive for all members of the public. Earlier, Pramono asked Jakarta residents who plan to mudik during Lebaran to report to the local RT and RW before leaving home. ‘We ask mudik travellers to report to the local RT and RW before they depart. Do not leave your home unattended without reporting,’ Pramono said. This is to prevent potential criminal acts such as burglary at homes left unoccupied by their owners.
