The Jakarta Provincial Government has successfully maintained an Unqualified Opinion (WTP) status from the Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK RI) for its Regional Government Financial Reports (LKPD). With this achievement, the capital has upheld the highest standard in financial auditing for eight consecutive years, dating back to 2017. Ade Suherman, a member of Jakarta Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) Commission B from the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) faction, welcomed the success. He stated that the accomplishment proves regional financial management is now more transparent and accountable. ‘We appreciate the Jakarta Provincial Government, all regional apparatus, and the ranks involved in regional financial management. Maintaining the WTP opinion for years is certainly not an easy task,’ Ade Suherman said. Based on the BPK RI audit, the WTP opinion was granted because the Jakarta Provincial Government was deemed compliant with regulations, possessed a strong internal control system, and met governmental accounting standards in the disclosure of financial information. Nevertheless, Ade Suherman stressed that WTP is not the finish line. He emphasised that the effectiveness of the regional budget (APBD) usage, which directly impacts citizens’ welfare, remains the top priority. ‘WTP is an instrument to measure the quality of financial governance, but the public will judge the final results. Whether public services are improving, whether development is increasingly felt, and whether the budget is genuinely used for the people’s interest,’ he asserted. In his capacity as a member of Commission B, Ade also highlighted the importance of following up on any notes or recommendations still provided by the BPK RI. He hopes the government does not become complacent and instead uses this opinion to conduct continuous evaluation. ‘The WTP must not become merely an administrative pride. This achievement should be a motivation to continue strengthening internal oversight, increasing spending efficiency, and closing loopholes that could potentially cause problems in the future,’ he said. Regarding Jakarta’s transition into a global city, Ade assessed that future challenges will be increasingly significant. This requires professional governance to maintain the integrity of APBD management and preserve public trust. ‘Public trust is the government’s greatest asset. Therefore, the quality of regional financial management must continue to be maintained, even improved from year to year,’ he stated. In closing, Ade Suherman confirmed that Jakarta DPRD members will continue to carry out their oversight function constructively to ensure every rupiah from the regional budget truly provides added value to the community. ‘This achievement deserves appreciation, but our task is not yet complete. The next challenge is ensuring that good financial governance translates into increasingly better public services,’ concluded Ade Suherman.
