Jakarta Residents' Trust Erodes Due to Manipulation of JAKI Reports
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Public trust in the Jakarta Kini (JAKI) app is beginning to falter following suspicions of manipulation in handling complaint reports. Several cases involving PPSU officers from Kalisari in East Jakarta, as well as South Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) personnel, have sparked public concerns over the validity of reports on the app. In one case, PPSU officers are alleged to have manipulated report photos using artificial intelligence (AI). Meanwhile, South Jakarta Dishub officers are suspected of altering timestamps in reports on Jalan Kapten Tendean in Mampang Prapatan. Officers reportedly used the same report for different complaints, making it appear as though issues had been addressed or resolved. However, doubts now arise as to whether problems are truly resolved after submitting reports via JAKI. “I’ve submitted reports several times, like for streetlights that were out, or those facing the wrong direction, but now I’m doubtful after the recent (manipulation) case,” said Atar when met in the Cakung area on Friday (10/4/2026). Similar sentiments were expressed by other residents, though some continue to use JAKI. Indra (34), a resident of Duren Sawit, said he would still report complaints through the app. “I’ll keep reporting; if I stop because of the recent (AI) case, then the bad things won’t get fixed,” Indra stated. Puji (40), a resident of Pondok Kelapa, echoed this, hoping for system improvements following the emergence of these cases. Public policy expert Trubus Rahadiansyah assesses that this report manipulation case is not merely an individual violation but reflects broader issues in bureaucratic governance.
