Residents crowded the Prime Ramadan Bazaar area at Pasar Jaya’s Jakarta City Hall venue, hunting for various food items, creative products, and daily essentials at affordable prices.

During observations by detikcom at Jakarta City Hall on Tuesday, 10 March 2026, bazaar stalls were packed with visitors from midday onwards. Residents were seen hunting for various food items to break their fast with, as well as Islamic clothing sold at prices notably cheaper than those available in regular markets.

One visitor, Lulu (28), said she deliberately came to the bazaar after learning about it through social media. The state-owned enterprise employee felt the bazaar was extremely helpful as it provided various Ramadan necessities in one location.

“It’s excellent because we don’t have to struggle to find food elsewhere. The food selection is also diverse, especially takjil and dates. So we don’t have to go to the market; everything is already here. It makes things very convenient for us,” Lulu said when met at City Hall.

She said she purchased several items at the bazaar, including a mukena (Islamic prayer dress). According to her, the prices offered were cheaper than at the original stores.

“I bought two mukenas. One for 180,000 rupiah, another for 280,000 rupiah. At the shop it could be 300,000 rupiah, but here it’s cheaper,” she said.

However, Lulu said she was still not entirely satisfied because the bazaar only operated for a short period. She hoped the bazaar could run longer so residents could purchase more of their needs ahead of Eid al-Fitr.

“To be honest, I’m not entirely satisfied. The bazaar is quite large, so ideally it should run for at least three days,” she said.

Another visitor, Zahra (25), said the bazaar was an attractive place to hunt for Eid necessities whilst sampling popular culinary items.

“It’s fun for window shopping. Since Eid is coming anyway, so I might as well buy Eid clothes. I bought headscarves; 100,000 rupiah got me three,” Zahra said.

According to her, not only clothing was available at the bazaar. Various other products such as children’s clothing as well as different food items for breaking the fast were also sold at the bazaar.

“It’s not just clothes and headscarves, but there are also children’s clothes. Plus there’s lots of viral food for breaking the fast, although you do have to queue,” she said.

Zahra also said she received a discount voucher for basic groceries at the bazaar. “I also got a discount voucher; 100,000 rupiah got me basic groceries,” she said.

She hoped bazaars like this could run longer so residents would have more time to shop. She also wanted similar bazaars to be held more frequently and not just at City Hall.

“Hopefully the bazaar can be extended. Not just two days, but a week so I can explore it properly and try lots of viral food too,” she said.

“If possible, it should be held more often, not just at City Hall but also in various neighbourhoods so residents can access it more easily. It’s very helpful,” she added.
