Jakarta Regional Government Free Homecoming Service Departs 17 March, Preparing 709 Buses for 30,774 Passengers
Jakarta, Indonesia — The Jakarta Provincial Government is preparing a free homecoming programme for 30,774 residents ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah.
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that the number of free mudik participants has increased from initial estimates due to strong public enthusiasm and is scheduled to depart on 17 March 2026.
“The number of participants has increased. Initially, we estimated only 26,000, but due to high enthusiasm, the verified number has now reached 30,774 passengers,” said Pramono at Jakarta City Hall on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.
However, following the increase in participants, the bus fleet has been expanded to 709 units.
“Now 709 buses have been prepared by the Jakarta Provincial Government,” said Pramono.
The free mudik participants are scheduled to depart from the National Monument area.
“The mudik programme facilitated by the Jakarta Provincial Government will commence on 17 March at the National Monument,” he added.
Beyond the free homecoming programme, the Jakarta Provincial Government is also preparing various activities to commemorate Ramadan and the approach of Eid in the capital.
Subsequently, on 19 March, a Bedug Festival will be held in the evening, followed by a torch procession to enliven the Ramadan atmosphere in the capital city.
Additionally, the Jakarta Provincial Government will hold a Car Free Night in the Sudirman–Thamrin area during the Eid prayer evening. The Car Free Night is scheduled to begin at 22:00 Western Indonesian Time, and private vehicles will not be permitted to pass through.
