Jakarta, Kompas.com – Air temperature in Jakarta reached 35.6 degrees Celsius over recent days.

The Meteorological, Climatological, and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) stated that this heat condition will not subside and is likely to persist until approaching Lebaran 2026.

The Deputy for Meteorology at BMKG, Guswanto, said the hot temperatures experienced by residents are likely to continue until 20–22 March 2026.

He explained that the elevated temperature is influenced by relatively clear sky conditions with minimal cloud cover.

This allows solar radiation to penetrate the atmosphere optimally and directly reach the Earth’s surface.

These conditions are expected to persist during the seasonal transition period.

“BMKG has recorded maximum temperatures reaching 35.6 degrees Celsius with UV indices in the purple category, meaning extreme danger,” he said.

Additionally, residents were urged to use personal protective measures when conducting outdoor activities, such as hats, umbrellas, sunglasses, and long-sleeved clothing.

“Use sunscreen or sun protection factor (SPF) high sunscreen to protect your skin. Increase water intake to prevent dehydration,” Guswanto explained.
