Jakarta Provincial Government to Manage Funds for Jakarta-Specific LPDP Programme

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will manage the funds for the Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP) programme specifically for Jakarta. DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo stated that his administration will partner with the central LPDP to ensure the programme can be promptly implemented next year. “The funds available will naturally be managed by the DKI Jakarta Government, but since handling LPDP matters takes time and requires a long process, we are collaborating with the central LPDP,” Pramono explained when met at the Jakarta East City Hall Office on Tuesday. In addition to budgeting, Pramono elaborated that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will also determine which capital city students are eligible to receive the scholarship. The Jakarta Government will subsequently handle aspects related to universities and selectable majors. “For determining students, universities, majors, and so forth, the DKI Jakarta Government will make those decisions,” he stated. He hopes the programme can be realised soon so that its benefits can be felt by the community. This programme could provide a major opportunity for Jakarta’s children to pursue education abroad. “If this can be realised, in my view, it is very good as it provides opportunities for Jakarta’s children or students to study abroad using the Jakarta LPDP,” Pramono said.
