JAKARTA – The Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov DKI) has officially launched a housing renovation programme for disadvantaged residents in 2026.

“For 2026, we are planning approximately six hundred (663) homes,” said Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung during the programme launch ceremony at Serdang Kemayoran Village in Central Jakarta on Monday, 16 March 2026.

Pramono stated that the programme is a continuation of a similar initiative implemented in 2025, with all targets realised. In the initial phase of implementation this year, the Jakarta Provincial Government is providing renovation assistance for 26 residential units across various Jakarta districts.

According to Pramono, the programme results from collaboration amongst various stakeholders, ranging from local government, BAZNAS (Jakarta Provincial Charity Board), support from regional state-owned enterprises (BUMD), state-owned enterprises (BUMN), and private sector partners.

He also emphasised that the housing renovation programme is open to all residents in need regardless of religious background. “I request the programme administrators, particularly BAZNAS, to collaborate with BUMD and BUMN so that all religions are given the opportunity to access this housing renovation programme,” he said.

During the occasion, Pramono explained that renovation costs for a single unit range from IDR 50 million to IDR 55 million. The work process can typically be completed within approximately three weeks.

During the improvement process, homeowners will be temporarily placed in rented accommodation with costs covered by BAZNAS. “For three weeks, temporary accommodation is provided and the home renovation is completed within three weeks,” Pramono said.

During the programme launch, Pramono also had a dialogue with one of the housing renovation assistance recipients, Bu Atun (73), whose home is being renovated through the programme.

In the conversation, Bu Atun expressed her hope to be able to read Surah Yasin again despite currently experiencing vision impairment due to cataracts. In response, Pramono immediately approved a cataract operation for Bu Atun and requested local government officials to oversee the process.
