Jakarta — The Jakarta Provincial Government has deployed 2,859 sanitation workers to ensure the city remains clean during the Takbiran night, Eid al-Fitr, and the Eid holiday period of 2026.

“We have prepared approximately 70 sanitation workers in each district. Overall, more than 2,859 personnel will be assigned to various areas of Jakarta, from Takbiran night, Eid al-Fitr day, through the Eid holiday period,” said Asep Kuswanto, Head of the Jakarta Environmental Service, in Jakarta on Friday.

He stated that sanitation workers are on standby to anticipate increased public activity and potential surges in waste volume across various locations.

They are positioned at strategic locations, ranging from temporary waste collection points (TPS), tourist areas, to public spaces expected to be crowded during Eid al-Fitr celebrations and the Eid holiday period.

In addition to deploying personnel, the Jakarta Provincial Government is also operating various sanitation support facilities, including 89 automatic road sweeper units, 30 bus toilets, and 35 portable toilets positioned at various locations.

Waste collection point emptying throughout Jakarta is carried out in stages as a precaution against potential increases in waste volume before the holiday.

On Eid al-Fitr day itself, street cleaning is conducted manually as well as using road sweepers.

During the Eid holiday period, cleaning efforts will focus on tourist areas expected to be heavily visited by the public, such as the National Monument, the Old City, the Ragunan Zoo, and Ancol.

The Jakarta Provincial Government also ensures that operations of the Bantargebang Integrated Waste Processing Plant (TPST) and the Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) Plant continue running during the Eid holiday period to maintain smooth waste management operations in Jakarta.
