Jakarta Province has mobilised 1,790 personnel from the Civil Police Unit (Satpol PP) to maintain security and public order during the homecoming period and Lebaran holiday in 2026.

“Personnel are deployed across all Jakarta districts. Assignments are carried out on a rotating basis to ensure surveillance can take place 24 hours a day,” said Jakarta Civil Police Unit Chief Satriadi Gunawan in a statement in Jakarta on Saturday (14 March 2026).

Satriadi explained that the security measures are intended to anticipate potential security disturbances during the Lebaran homecoming period, when many residents’ homes are left unoccupied.

To support this effort, the Civil Police Unit has requested its district-level counterparts to strengthen coordination with local authorities and community representatives.

The personnel, particularly at district level and especially the head of the village taskforce, can coordinate with village chiefs, the military, police, and also neighbourhood representatives to conduct community outreach and education to encourage residents to leave their homes in a secure condition.

Satriadi then appealed to residents who are travelling home to inform their surrounding community so that unoccupied homes can be monitored by local residents.

“If possible, homes should be looked after and information should be provided to the surrounding neighbourhood if one is indeed travelling home,” he said.

Satriadi also stated that his personnel will increase patrol intensity in residential areas and crowded locations during the Lebaran holiday period. These patrols will not merely involve passing through, but will also ensure security conditions in monitored areas.

“Patrols that previously occurred once could now happen two or three times. The patrols must also be of high quality, not just passing by, but greeting people and observing security conditions in the surrounding area,” Satriadi explained.

Surveillance will also be focused on tourist areas and major gathering points expected to experience increased visitor numbers after Lebaran.
