Jakarta Police Chief Launches Bang Jasri Movement: Make Cleanliness a Culture
Jakarta Metropolitan Police Chief Inspector General Asep Edi Suheri has officially launched the 'Bang Jasri' movement — short for Bhayangkara Jakarta Asri. The programme is aligned with the 'ASRI' (Aman, Sehat, Resik, Indah — Safe, Healthy, Clean, Beautiful) campaign championed by President Prabowo Subianto.
The event was held beneath the Priok Toll Road in North Jakarta on Thursday (19 February 2026), involving approximately 650 participants. Attendees comprised representatives from municipal and regional government, community leaders, religious figures, and social media activists.
Also present were North Jakarta Mayor Hendra Hidayat, Jakarta Metropolitan Police Deputy Chief Brigadier General Dekananto, and a number of senior officers from the Jakarta Metropolitan Police. Inspector General Asep and the participants commenced the initiative with tree planting and a clean-up exercise beneath the Priok Toll Road.
Opening his remarks, Inspector General Asep extended greetings ahead of the holy month of Ramadan 1447 Hijriah to the people of Indonesia, particularly Jakarta residents. He noted that fasting should not be an obstacle to carrying out the clean-up activities.
"May we pass this Ramadan with full reverence and peace," said Inspector General Asep.
He affirmed that the 'Bang Jasri' movement represents the embodiment of President Prabowo Subianto's directive emphasising the importance of a culture of cleanliness in one's immediate surroundings.
"The 'Bang Jasri' movement is in line with the directive of President Prabowo Subianto, who stresses the importance of community service and cultivating a culture of cleanliness in our immediate environment, including offices and public spaces around us," Inspector General Asep said in his address.
The President's directive was previously conveyed during the 2026 National Coordination Meeting of Central and Regional Government, urging all elements of society to take routine action in addressing waste issues. In a similar vein, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has also established the ASRI Task Force as a driving force across all police ranks.
"Furthermore, the National Police Chief has emphasised that the ASRI Movement is not merely a slogan but must be realised through concrete action and become part of daily working culture," he said.
Inspector General Asep reminded his ranks that 'Bang Jasri' is not simply a ceremonial agenda. He wants the police presence to deliver genuine impact on the comfort of Jakarta residents.
He also assured that the movement would not be a fleeting effort but would become a routine agenda carried out simultaneously and sustainably.
"To that end, I invite all parade participants to carry out this activity with full enthusiasm, togetherness, and a sense of responsibility," said Inspector General Asep.
"I also urge you — let us look after the environment starting from small things. After we clean up today, our next task is to ensure this area remains clean and well-maintained. Make cleanliness a culture and a daily habit, not just a one-off activity," he added.
In closing, Inspector General Asep also included a message welcoming the holy month of Ramadan 1447 Hijriah. He called on all parties to make cleanliness an everyday culture.
"May the small step we take today become part of a greater movement for a more ASRI Jakarta," Inspector General Asep concluded.
