Jakarta Police Anti-Brawl Task Force Arrests Seven Youths, Seizes Bladed Weapons in North Jakarta
The Anti-Brawl Task Force of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police’s Samapta Directorate has arrested seven youths suspected of planning a street brawl. They were apprehended during a routine patrol operation.
Anti-Brawl Task Force controller Senior Commissioner Wahyu Dwi Ariwibowo said the patrol commenced at 00.30 local time on Tuesday (17 February 2026), covering several crime-prone areas from Central Jakarta to North Jakarta.
Wahyu said officers became suspicious of a group of youths in Cilincing. Upon inspection, several bladed weapons believed to have been intended for use in a brawl were discovered.
“From the inspection and sweep of their gathering location, two machetes and one knife were found concealed,” Wahyu told reporters on Wednesday (18 February 2026).
Wahyu said all seven youths had been taken to Cilincing Police Station for further questioning. He added that patrols would continue in order to suppress the potential for brawls and street crime.
“We will give no quarter to brawl perpetrators or those carrying bladed weapons. We continue to conduct routine patrols and early detection to maintain public safety,” Wahyu said.
Jakarta Metropolitan Police public relations chief Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto urged the public to report immediately any potential brawls or other security disturbances. Budi explained that the Anti-Brawl Task Force would continue to maintain security across the Jakarta Metropolitan Police’s jurisdiction.
“The national police call centre at 110 can be accessed free of charge around the clock. Every report from the public will be promptly followed up,” Budi said.
