Jakarta Hospitals Prepare to Anticipate Surge in Diseases During Seasonal Transition
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov DKI Jakarta) states that hospitals and health services in the capital are ready to anticipate a surge in disease cases that may arise after the Eid al-Fitr holiday and during the current seasonal transition. “Hospitals in Jakarta are ready. For infectious diseases, every regional public hospital (RSUD) already has isolation rooms,” said the Head of Disease Prevention and Control at the Jakarta Health Service, Sri Puji Wahyuni, when contacted in Jakarta on Wednesday. Regarding diseases emerging after the Eid holiday, Puji said they would continue monitoring until next week. “Up to now, there has been none (surge in cases). We will monitor until next week,” she stated. The Jakarta Provincial Government has ensured the readiness of health facilities and services to anticipate potential surges in disease cases due to the ongoing hot temperatures affecting the Jakarta area. A total of 31 Regional Hospitals, 44 Community Health Centres (Puskesmas), and 292 Auxiliary Community Health Centres are on standby to provide comprehensive clinical services to the public. The Jakarta Health Service is also strengthening coordination between health service facilities through an integrated referral system. This is done to ensure that every case can be handled quickly, accurately, and effectively. Meanwhile, the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that the start of the dry season is expected to begin in April 2026 in several regions of Indonesia, namely 114 seasonal zones, and will gradually be felt in other areas in May and June. In addition, this year’s dry season in Indonesia will be longer and relatively drier compared to 2025. BMKG also predicts that conditions during this year’s dry season will be normal in some areas, while others will experience drier than usual conditions.
