Continuous rain has been lashing Jakarta and its surrounding areas since the early hours of Friday (20 February) through to the morning.

According to the Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD DKI Jakarta) website, the rainfall has caused a significant rise in river water levels across the capital.

Based on data recorded at 06.00 Western Indonesian Time (WIB), five monitoring posts have reported water levels reaching the cautionary category (Alert Level 3), whilst one monitoring post has reached the warning category (Alert Level 2).

The five posts at Alert Level 3 are: Katulampa Weir (90 cm), Karet Floodgate (520 cm), Krukut Hulu Monitoring Post (160 cm), Pesanggrahan Post (200 cm), and Pasar Ikan-Laut (192 cm).

The post at Alert Level 2 is Angke Hulu (270 cm).

At the Katulampa Weir in the city of Bogor, West Java, the water level reached 90 cm as of 06.00. According to the graph on the BPBD DKI website, the water level at the Katulampa Weir gate has been rising steadily since 01.00 in the early morning.

By 05.00, the water level at Katulampa Weir had reached Alert Level 3. Rain was reported to be continuing, and the water level was still rising as of 06.00 WIB.

Meanwhile, Krukut Hulu reached Alert Level 3 at 04.00 WIB, followed by Karet since 02.00 WIB. The Pesanggrahan Post saw water levels rise to Alert Level 3 at approximately 03.00 WIB.

At the Angke Hulu Post, Alert Level 3 was reached at approximately 02.30 WIB, and Alert Level 2 was breached at around 04.20 WIB. According to graphical data on the same website, the water level at Angke Hulu was still rising as of the 06.00 WIB reading.

According to reports from residents uploaded to social media platforms such as X and Instagram, flooding has already occurred at several locations. One such point is Jalan Joglo Raya in West Jakarta, where the road is submerged under 30–40 cm of standing water.

In Pulo Raya, South Jakarta, floodwater has reached approximately 30–40 cm. Standing water of 40–60 cm on the road in front of Jeruk Purut Cemetery in South Jakarta has forced the diversion of the Mikrotrans Jak95 Lebak Bulus–Pasar Minggu bus route.

Flooding has also occurred around Pasar Kambing in South Jakarta, causing the diversion of the Minitrans 5N Ragunan–Kampung Melayu route. Route diversions have also been implemented for line 1M (Meruya–Blok M) due to flooding around Swadarma Raya, and line 1C (Pesanggrahan–Blok M) near Jalan Bumi.

Route 8E (Bintaro–Blok M) has also experienced operational disruptions due to flooding around Jalan H Gari.
