Jakarta Health Office's Statement on SLHS Ownership at Pulogebang SPPG
The Jakarta Health Department has stated that it provided guidance and supervision to the Pulogebang 15 unit of the nutritious meal service provision (SPPG) in Cakung, East Jakarta, before the food poisoning case resulting from consuming free nutritious meals (MBG). Head of the Jakarta Health Department, Ani Ruspitawati, said that the forms of guidance and supervision carried out by her agency included environmental health inspections (IKL), training for food handlers, and the issuance of hygiene and sanitation certificates (SLHS). “IKL has been conducted, and currently the SPPG is in the process of improvement and training for food handlers,” said Ani on Saturday, 9 May 2026. She continued that, based on records from the Jakarta Health Department, the Pulogebang 15 SPPG began operations on 31 March 2026. According to regulations from the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), this SPPG was given three months to obtain SLHS. On 8 January, the BGN stated it would improve service quality for 2026 by urging SPPG to fulfil their SLHS ownership obligations, considering findings of E. coli bacteria in the air at several SPPG units. The SLHS obligations and consequences for SPPG failing to meet standards are outlined in BGN Head’s Decree Number 401.1 of 2025 on Technical Guidelines for MBG Implementation Management in the 2026 Fiscal Year. The MBG servings distributed by Pulogebang 15 SPPG are suspected of causing hundreds of students in the Cakung area, East Jakarta, to suffer food poisoning. The Jakarta Health Department recorded 252 reports from parents to schools, with 188 students accessing healthcare services. “As of today, there are 26 students still undergoing treatment in hospitals,” said Ani. The schools affected by the MBG poisoning in East Jakarta include RA Al Latifiyah; SDN Cakung Timur 01; SDN Ujung Menteng 02 and 03; MI Al Adawiyah; MI Al Wathoniyah; and MTs Al Adawiyah. The Jakarta Health Department, according to Ani, has not yet been able to determine the cause or what is contained in the MBG menu servings that led to this food poisoning. This is because, she said, laboratory test results will only be available on Tuesday, 12 May 2026 next week. “However, the suspicion from the physical food comes from the wonton tofu dish,” said Ani. Tempo has sent a confirmation message regarding this suspected MBG poisoning case in East Jakarta to the Head of the National Nutrition Agency, Dadan Hindayana. However, until this report was published, there has been no response.
