Jakarta — The Head of the Jakarta Health Office (Dinkes) Ani Ruspitawati has disclosed that no confirmed cases of measles have been identified in Jakarta to date.

“Measles has not been detected as positive in Jakarta at this time,” said Ani when met in the East Jakarta area on Tuesday (10 March).

She stated that although measles cases in Jakarta remain absent, the disease has already appeared in several areas surrounding the capital.

In response, she urged the public to remain vigilant against the disease, particularly during the upcoming Eid al-Fitr celebrations.

“During Eid, when it becomes crowded, there is usually much interaction between people. The most vulnerable group is children. So we must properly protect babies and children,” Ani explained.

Despite the absence of confirmed measles cases in Jakarta, she noted that authorities continue to conduct continuous monitoring and surveillance.

Should symptomatic cases be identified, the Jakarta Health Office will immediately refer them for laboratory testing.

“There are several healthcare facilities designated as surveillance locations for Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI). When we detect anyone showing symptoms, we test them at the laboratory,” Ani clarified.

As a containment measure, the Jakarta Health Office has conducted Outbreak Response Immunisation (ORI) campaigns targeting a mass measles vaccination drive to prevent extraordinary disease outbreaks, reaching 9,000 children.

The results showed immunisation coverage of approximately 77.22 per cent as of September 2025.
