Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has urged Jakarta residents to exercise caution regarding extreme heat conditions in recent days. “According to BMKG forecasts, the weather will be quite hot over the next one, two, or three days, including today,” Governor Pramono said to reporters at Pure Segera in North Jakarta on Sunday, 15 March, as cited by Antara. Pramono advised residents not to worry by preparing appropriate precautions, including utilising health facilities operated by the Jakarta Health Service.

Meanwhile, Jakarta Health Service (Dinkes) Head Ani Ruspitawati explained separately that hot weather can affect health, causing dehydration, heat exhaustion, and heatstroke. “Prolonged exposure to high heat can also trigger dizziness, muscle cramps, cardiovascular and respiratory disorders, and may cause skin irritation,” Ani said.

Vulnerable groups including outdoor workers, children, pregnant women, and the elderly face heightened risks from heat-related health impacts. For general precautions, residents should increase water consumption and avoid foods with high salt content such as coffee and tea. Additionally, residents are advised to wear hats and umbrellas when outdoors and to limit strenuous physical activity outside during daytime hours, particularly for vulnerable groups. For indoor spaces, air conditioning units or fans should be used to maintain comfortable room temperatures.
