Jakarta Flooding Spreads, 90 Neighbourhood Units and Six Roads Affected
A total of 90 neighbourhood units (RT) and six roads were affected by flooding across Jakarta as of 09:00 Western Indonesian Time on Friday, 20 February 2026. The flooding disrupted residents’ activities at numerous points, inundating dozens of neighbourhoods and several heavily trafficked roads.
Head of the Disaster Data and Information Centre at the Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Mohamad Yohan, said the flooding was caused by heavy rainfall combined with the overflowing of several rivers in the capital, including the Angke, Pesanggrahan, Krukut, and Uangan rivers. “Currently there are 90 RT and six roads inundated,” he said on Friday.
In the West Jakarta area, flooding affected seven RT. The breakdown includes three RT in Kedaung Kali Angke with water levels of approximately 30 centimetres due to the Angke River overflowing; one RT in Rawa Buaya with levels reaching 70 centimetres from the same river; and three RT in Kembangan Selatan with levels of approximately 40 centimetres caused by the Pesanggrahan River overflowing.
Meanwhile, the South Jakarta area suffered the widest impact, with 83 RT affected. Flooding occurred in Cilandak Barat (one RT, 30 centimetres), Pondok Labu (one RT, 50 centimetres), and Cipete Utara (three RT, up to 90 centimetres), all triggered by the Krukut River overflowing.
Petogogan sub-district was the worst-hit area, with 39 RT inundated. Water levels ranged from 55 to 80 centimetres due to heavy rainfall, the Krukut River overflowing, and the PHB Nipam retention basin overflowing. In Pondok Pinang, floodwaters reaching 100 centimetres submerged six RT as a result of the Pesanggrahan River overflowing.
Flooding was also recorded in Pela Mampang (two RT, 40–70 centimetres) from the Mampang River overflowing; Cilandak Timur (three RT, 50–100 centimetres) from the Krukut River; Bintaro (eight RT, 40–70 centimetres) from the Pesanggrahan River; Pesanggrahan (nine RT, 30–60 centimetres); as well as Petukangan Utara (10 RT, 100 centimetres) and Ulujami (one RT, 90 centimetres), both triggered by the Uangan River overflowing.
