Jakarta Entertainment Venues Operating Under Special Ramadan Regulations
JAKARTA – Entertainment venues in Jakarta continue operations during Ramadan, but must comply with special regulatory requirements including limited opening hours.
Kukuh Prabowo, chairman of the Jakarta Entertainment Entrepreneurs Association (Asphija), stated that entertainment businesses are restricted during the holy month to align with applicable regulations.
“We at Asphija emphasise this. Essentially, these rules are established for mutual understanding given special activities during Ramadan,” Kukuh told Kompas.com on Tuesday (11 March 2026).
Asphija has coordinated with relevant parties, including the Jakarta Provincial Government and the Civil Police Unit, regarding implementation of the regulations.
“We have coordinated with the relevant parties, including the Provincial Government, Civil Police Unit, and others,” he said.
The regulations are designed to ensure orderly operations during the holy month. Accordingly, Kukuh urged all association members to comply with the requirements applicable during Ramadan.
“However, we urge all Asphija members to not violate the regulations,” he said.
Meanwhile, entertainment business operators are monitoring global developments. Geopolitical tensions in the Middle East are feared to impact the number of foreign tourist visits to Jakarta.
“We understand the global situation. However, currently it is Ramadan and entertainment businesses also have special regulations with shorter operating hours, so the impact cannot yet be assessed. Perhaps after this period,” said Kukuh.
Previously, the Jakarta Provincial Tourism and Creative Economy Office issued Circular Letter Number e-0001 Year 2026 concerning the Operation of Tourism Businesses During the Holy Month of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri/2026.
The circular designated six specific types of tourism businesses required to close during Ramadan.
